| My
Mercedes Trunk Fills Up With Water
|
| The
obvious first place to look is the trunk seal. Open
the trunk and check the general condition of the seal
and make sure it is seated properly. Also make sure
there is not a buildup of debris on the upper edge.
The trunk seal however is usually not the culprit.
The cause of the water in the trunk is usually do
leaking rear windshield seal. You can find the leak
many times using a garden hose and a flashlight to
check for water under the rear package shelf. While
you have you a investigating do not forget to look
at the condition of the antenna grommet. |

|
| If
it turns out that it is the rear windshield
leaking you probably will want a professional
to do the repair. First of all it is a fairly
cheap repair and many times the glass shop will
do it at your place of business or home. Most
glass shops do not carry the rear seal so they
have no problem with you supplying the seal.
This alone can amount to substantial savings.
|
|
| Failure
to repair the leak will result in extensive
corrosion damage and may ruin electrical equipment
in the trunk. Therefore the quicker you can
get the leak stopped the better. |
