| My
Mercedes Radiator Neck Flew Off
|
| Mercedes
radiator replacement intervals are very hard to predict
since it varies between chassis and driving environment.
We have seen people replace their Mercedes radiator
after only a few years. |

|
| RADIATOR
NECK FAILURE is a common problem for the Mercedes
radiator manufactured with plastic tanks. This
problem can occur on vehicles with only 75,000
miles but it has been our experience that we
start witnessing most of the upper radiator
neck failures after 7 or 8 years. The plastic
can deteriorate to such an extent that the plastic
will actually flake apart when touched. The
deterioration does not have to be that bad before
failure and most owners are completely surprised
when the radiator fails without warning leaving
them stranded. They are in shock since the radiator
always appeared outwardly fine. |
|
| I
am sure some of you had your Mercedes radiator
last longer and some less, our advice is - if
your Mercedes radiator has plastic tanks and
is more than 7 years old and has seen 75,000
miles, replace it before it fails. Why risk
it. If your radiator is not that old but has
more than 75,000 miles on it look for any signs
of the plastic deteriorating on the inside of
the radiator neck. If you can rub the inside
of the radiator neck and find any sign of plastic
flakes you should replace the radiator as soon
as possible. |
