Brake pads are among the indispensable components of your Mercedes 300E brake system. They’re typically made of organic/non-metallic or non-organic/semi-metallic materials purposely engineered to clamp into the brake rotors to set the vehicle into a stop. Through this process, a certain amount of friction and heat are produced to resist the vehicle’s acceleration. The friction surface of the brake pad is the material that directly clamps into the surface of the rotors. And because of the great amount of force needed to produce the friction, it is normal for the pads to suffer the most, causing it them become thinner and eventually wear-out in due time.
